I am convinced the forces working against Bibleman aren't the cheesey, contrived, villains he faces, but hermeneutics itself. This is my review of Bibleman: Combating the Commandant of Confusion.
Bibleman is a series I am familiar with, mostly within the context of throwing out the odd joke, as to how ridiculous it really is. To me Bibleman is a prime example of our Christian culture trying to mimic shows from the world culture, with the end product being a horrendous bit of failure.
I think that our Christian Culture, in attempts to commercialize God's word, usually drive people away more than they draw anyone in. If you want people to be interested in something all you need are answers and pure truth. Not ridiculous monstrosities that makes one giggle, and ultimately not even attempt to listen to the message trying to be presented.
I think if you want your kids to watch an adventure show, let them watch an adventure show, but if you want them to learn God's word teach them God's word. It really is not a hard concept to grasp at all. It will also show them that you have interest in the things in God's word and sharing it with them and in essence giving you an avenue to develop your relationship further.
Finally I would not recommend Bibleman. It is that simple. If I could give it no stars I would but for the sake of kindness I will give it one. Teach your kids the Bible and God's word, and when they want to watch something let them watch something worthwhile........
